SMART BET NCAA Basketball Picks ATS for March 21, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 21st, 2011 | 1 Comment

The last SMART INVESTMENT PLAY resulted in a push as BYU allowed a late 3 at the buzzer that put the game right on the number.

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll Started on 2/28/2011: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/21/2011: $1,898.62

Duquesne (+1) vs Oregon, investing $189.86 for a return of $172.60. Duquesne is clearly the better team here and I have them as a small favorite. Duquesne is clicking on all the right cylinders right now and should exploit an average Oregon squad.

Recommended Plays:

Missouri State (+5) vs. Miami

Oklahoma State (+6) vs Washington State

Rhode Island vs UCF (-5.5)

Evansville vs Boise State (-9.5)

SMART BET NCAA Tourney (Cont.) March 17, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 17th, 2011 | Comment »

Seven consecutive days of profit with the SMART INVESTMENT PLAY. The NCAA tourney officially begins today and the SMART INVESTMENT looks at BYU.  Can BYU avoid the upset and win their second round game?

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll Started on 2/28/2011: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/17/2011: $1,898.62

3/17/11 SMART INVESTMENT PLAY: Wofford vs BYU (-8), investing $189.86 for a return of $172.60. Wofford was a surprise team last year in the tourney giving Wisconsin everything they had to just nearly miss pulling the upset. However, they lost several players from that team and several key players inside.  They have not been as good this year, did not win their conference, but pulled the upset in the Conference tourney and are now back in the dance for the second consecutive year.  BYU and Jimmer return for his final run at a national title. We know that they lost a key guy inside, but BYU is still the class in this match-up. BYU dominates Wofford in every key category including defense, rebounding, assists and free-throw shooting; all vital to success in the tourney.  I have BYU favored by 14.5 so you have to take advantage of this short price.

Recommended Plays:

1. Belmont vs Wisconsin (-4.5)

2. Richmond (+2.5) vs Vanderbilt

3. UCLA (+2) vs Michigan State

March 18, 2011:

SMART INVESTMENT PLAY for Friday: Villanova (PK) vs. George Mason

Recommended Plays:

Oakland vs Texas (-10)

Marquette (+2.5) vs Xavier

SMART BET NCAA Tourney Edition (Cont.) for March 16, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 16th, 2011 | 1 Comment

Six consecutive days with a positive return on investment as we continue to roll through winners.  A 20pt winner with Boston College last night. Tonight, before the big tourney kicks off, the SMART INVESTMENT Play turns to the CBI tourney as Duquesne travels to Montana. Can Duqesne beat Montana? (See below for my analysis).

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll Started on 2/28/2011: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/16/2011: $1,740.40

Duquesne (PK) vs Montana, investing $174.04 for a return of $158.22. First off the numbers, I have Duquesne favored by 6 in this game and as standard when I see this big of a difference between the Vegas line and my line I have to take advantage.  I know there are significant hurdles Duquesne will have to overcome tonight to get the win as they lost 7 of their last 9, they are playing on the road, and Montana is really big insider (2 players over 6’10″). However, Duquesne has great guard play leading the nation in assists, and they play great defense averaging almost 10 steals a game and hold a significant turnover/assist ratio over their opponents, +7. Even though Montana has a size advantage over most of their opponents they only hold a rebounding advantage of 4, so they can be beat inside.  As I stated yesterday, motivation is a key factor as well. Everything I have read indicates the Dukes are really excited to be playing tonight, while Montana still seems to be recovering from their 5pt loss in the conference championship game that prevented them from playing in the NCAA Tourney.

Recommended Plays:

1. Nebraska (+4.5) vs Wichita State

2. St. Bonnie (+7.5) vs Central Florida

March 17, 2011

SMART INVESTMENT PLAY for Thursday: (I am releasing this play early, so that you can get the best line(s), but follow the same strategy as all previous investment strategies). Will BYU win their first round game by beating Wofford?

3/17/11 SMART INVESTMENT PLAY: Wofford vs BYU (-8)

Recommended Plays:

1. Belmont vs Wisconsin (-4.5)

2. Richmond (+2.5) vs Vanderbilt

3. UCLA (+2) vs Michigan State

SMART BET College Picks Tourney Edition for March 15, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 15th, 2011 | 2 Comments

The SMART INVESTMENT PLAY returns a profit for the 5th consecutive day. There are several games to choose from today, but as always the SMART INVESTMENT PLAY is limited to 1 game per day and will continue that way for as long as I am posting.  A couple words of warning to all bettors over the next coming weeks: (1) Be selective, there are ton of games to choose from and its easy to think you have a lock and put together a huge 7 or 8 or more team parlay, bottom line its not wise, (2) one thing that is not factored into any numbers is motivation, outside of the NCAA tourney there are many other games, but be cautious b/c teams like VT or St. Mary’s, teams that were sure they would be dancing a playing in tourneys they don’t want to be in, usually these are good teams to bet against. The SMART INVESTMENT PLAY looks to the NIT where Boston College travels to McNeese State.

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll Started on 2/28/2011: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/15/2011: $1,595.36

Boston College (-6) vs McNeese State, investing $159.54 for a return of $145.04. I have only one concern about this game and that is the word of warning I gave above about motivation.  BC had an outside chance of making the tourney, but most people in the know had them on the outside.  I think they will be happy to be playing in the NIT and should come focused to play tonight. McNeese plays in a terrible conference and have absolutely zero quality wins, additionally they have zero quality losses meaning all their losses were to weak teams or they weren’t competitive against decent opponents.  My numbers have BC favored by 20pts, so I don’t understand the huge difference here. McNeese is at home and will play hard in front of their home crowd, but BC is clearly better and we are laying a short priced in comparison to the true line I have of -20. I look for McNeese to come out firing, but BC controls tempo, plays solid D and wins 76-55.

Recommended Plays:

I analyzed the tourney this morning and I have Kansas beating Duke in the finals in a very close contest.  However, looking at odds to win the NCAA tourney Duke’s odds to win is currently at 5-1, which I think has great value.

Dayton (+5.5) at College of Charleston

UTEP (+6.5) at New Mexico

James Madison (+2) at Davidson

SMART BET College and NBA Picks ATS for March 14, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 14th, 2011 | 6 Comments

Another return on the investment on Sunday as Duke continued their solid play and proved profitable once again.  Tonight the SMART INVESTMENT PLAY focuses on the first round of the College Insider Tournament.  Buffalo looks to continue their solid season on the road verse Quinnipac.

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll Started on 2/28/2011: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/14/2011: $1,462.41

Buffalo (-1) at Quinnipac, investing $146.24 for a return of $132.95. My line for the game, even including the home court advantage of Quinnipac, has Buffalo a 5 point chalk, so there is value with Buffalo as they are only a 1 point favorite.  The primary reasons I am siding with Buffalo is their quality of schedule, experienced point guard play, and better shooting. I think the defenses are a wash here as Buffalo holds their opponents to a lower field goal percentage then Quinnipac, but Quinnipac does dominate the boards holding an 9 board advantage over their opponent. Quinnipac has played a very weak schedule at best and couldn’t win their conference tourney to get the automatic bid and even though they won the conference regular season theie overall body of work is very weak.  Money continues to come in on Quinnipac as some books around town have them as a PK or 1 point favorite at the time of writing this post.  However, in my opinion, that line movement is a system play against the MAC schools as they have done poor in post-season play. But, my numbers have been consistent so considering strength of schedule and overall play Buffalo is still clearly the better squad here and with leadership at the point guard position should come away with a win.

Recommended Plays:

NBA

1.) Boston (-5) vs New Jersey

2.) Orlando (+5.5) vs LA Lakers

3.) Oklahoma City/Washington UNDER 209

SMART BET College Picks ATS for March 13, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 13th, 2011 | 1 Comment

The SMART INVESTMENT PLAY won for the third consecutive day and the investment has returned a profit four out of the last five days.  Sunday, the SMART INVESTMENT PLAY stays with ACC Conference tourney.

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll Started on 2/28/2011: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/13/2011: $1,340.55

North Carolina vs Duke (-3.5) investing $134.05 for a return of $121.86. Again Duke is in a revenge spot just as they were on Saturday when they took care of business against VT. UNC and Duke played just a week ago and UNC came away with a very impressive and important win. Duke doesn’t lose twice to many teams and Duke should be in a great position to dominate on Sunday.  UNC is playing their third game in the three days, so is Duke, but UNC has not been impressive in their wins having to come from behind in both affairs.  I know it doesn’t take a lot to get ready for UNC/Duke, but Duke will be much more motivated here and pull away in the 2nd quarter for another 10 to 12 point win. WINNER.

SMART BET College and NBA Picks ATS for March 12, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 12th, 2011 | 1 Comment

Another easy winner with the SMART INVESTMENT PLAY yesterday as Memphis won easily by 20pts. The SMART INVESTMENT PLAY moves to the ACC tourney as Duke looks to avenge a bad road loss to Virginia Tech a few weeks ago.

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/12/2011: $1,228.86

Va Tech vs Duke (-7.5), investing 122.86 for a return of $111.69. Duke loos to avenge a bad loss vs VT. Look for Duke to come in focused. They are flat out the better and I think Coach K has them ready to play today. Duke likely needs to win the ACC tourney to get a number 1 seed. There is some concern that Nolan may not play, but I look for Duke to ban together if he is absent and still take care of business. WINNER

Recommended Play:

Texas (+3.5) vs Kansas LOSER

SMART BET College and NBA Picks ATS for March 10, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 10th, 2011 | 1 Comment

The SMART INVESTMENT PLAY lost money last night as WVU who was leading by 7 at half was outscored by 13 for the outright loss.  Tonight’s SMART INVESTMENT turns to C-USA where Tulsa battles Rice.

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/10/2011: $1,032.58

Rice vs Tulsa (-5) investing $103.26 for a return of $93.87. I have made some decent money off Tulsa this year and this looks like a good spot for them tonight. Rice is a decent squad, but Tulsa is clearly the better team here. I have Tulsa favored by 9, so laying only 5 seems like a gift.  In addition, Tulsa can win the C-USA tourney and it is their only way to get into the tourney so I expect them to be really focused tonight. Tulsa holds a clear advantage on the defensive side of the ball and on the boards.  As long as their guard play doesn’t let them down to much, Tulsa should win this game going away. WINNER

Recommended Plays:

NCAAB

1. St. John’s vs Syracuse (-2) WINNER

2. Cincinnati vs Notre Dame (-2) WINNER

3. Georgia Tech vs Virginia Tech (-5) WINNER

4. Akron vs Miami (OH) (+3.5) LOSER

5. Oklahoma vs Texas (-14) WINNER

6. ECU vs UAB (-8) LOSER

7. So. Miss vs Memphis (+3) WINNER

1. New York Knicks (+5.5) vs Dallas LOSER

2. NYK/DAL Under 215 LOSER

SMART BET College and NBA Picks ATS for March 9, 2011

Posted by in College Basketball Picks on March 9th, 2011 | 1 Comment

Great day yesterday as the SMART INVESTMENT PLAY returned a profit for the second consecutive day. In addition, all recommended plays were winners as well. The SMART INVESTMENT PLAY turns its focus on the Big East Tourney.  Can West Virginia continue their success in the Big East tourney by beating Marquette? (See below for my analysis of the game).

SMART BET INVESTMENT PLAY: (The investment is always equal to 10% of the total bankroll)

Initial Bankroll: $1,000.00

Bankroll as of 3/9/2011: $1,147.31

Marquette vs West Virginia (-2), investing $114.73 for a return of $104.30. These teams split their regular season meetings, but Marquette won both against the spread.  However, the investment tonight goes on WVU.  On a neutral court, I just think they are better and really like the way they are playing right now. Marquette is playing back-to-back games and that is somewhat of a disadvantage even though over the years we have seen some pretty impressive runs in the Big East tourney.  WVU holds a clear advantage on the defensive end and that should be the difference tonight. WVU holds opponents to 40.7% shooting from the field, while Marquette allows 44%.  WVU dominates the boards holding a 7 rebound advantage over their opponents and while Marquette is able to hold their own the glass out rebounding their opponent by 6 per game, one rebound could make the difference in this match-up.  Marquette does hold a slight advantage at the point guard position, but WVU’s size and length should help even the playing field. The other critical stat is that WVU shoots 70% from the line and that will be important down the stretch in this game. Marquette shoots 69%, while that is a respectable number, in a 2pt game every advantage matters. I look for this game to be close throughout, but WVU pulls away in the second half for a 7 point win. LOSER

Recommended Plays:

NCAAB:

Rutgers (+10) vs St. Johns WINNER

NBA:

New York Knicks (+4.5) vs New Orleans WINNER

Bulls/Bobcats Under 181.5 LOSER

Magic/Kings Under 204 LOSER
